Plate heat exchanger is a high-efficiency heat exchanger formed by stacking a series of metal sheets with a certain corrugated shape. Thin rectangular channels are formed between various plates to exchange heat through the plates. Plate heat exchangers are ideal equipment for liquid-liquid and liquid-vapor heat exchange. But plate heat exchangers also have limitations.
(1) The operating pressure of the plate frame heat exchanger is below 2.5MPa
Plate heat exchangers rely on rubber pads for sealing operations. The circumference of the seal is very long and the support of the two seals of the corner holes is relatively poor. The gasket does not get the sufficient pressing force. So now the maximum working pressure of the plate heat exchanger is only 2.5MPa. When the veneer area is more than 1m2, the working pressure is often lower than 2.5MPa.
(2) The operating temperature of the plate type heat exchanger is below 250℃
The operating temperature of the plate heat exchanger depends on the acceptable temperature of the gasket. When using rubber-based elastic gaskets, the maximum operating temperature is below 200°C. When using compressed asbestos pads (Caf), the maximum operating temperature is 250 ~ 260 ℃.
(3) The plate heat exchanger is not suitable for the heat transfer of the medium that easily blocks the channel. The plate-to-plate channel of the plate heat exchanger is very narrow (generally 3~5mm). When the heat exchange medium contains large solid particles or fibrous materials, the channel between the plates is simply blocked. For such heat exchange occasions, the filtering equipment of imported equipment or the use of regenerative cooling system should be considered.
