Plate Heat Exchanger Pressure Drop

 In the process of using the plate heat exchanger, there is a certain requirement for the pressure drop. Generally, the average velocity in the flow channel is 0.3~0.6m/s and the resistance is not more than 100kPa. In order to better control the resistance requirement, it is necessary to have certain measures to assist.

 (1)Plate heat exchanger selection: The average flow velocity in the flow path between the plates is 0.3-0.6 m/s, and the rpressure drop is not more than 100 kPa.

 (2)Using mixed plate : The mixing plate has the same corrugation geometry on both sides, and the plate is divided into a hard plate (H) and a soft plate (L) according to the angle of the chevron corrugation( about 120º and 60º).

 (3)Using asymmetric plate heat exchanger : the symmetrical plate heat exchanger is composed of the same corrugated geometry plates on both sides , forming a plate heat exchanger with the same cross-sectional area of the hot and cold flow channel.

 (4)Multi-passes PHE: Multiple flow combinations can be used when the flow rate of the hot and cold medium is large difference. Multi-passes is used on the small flow rate side to increase the flow rate and obtain a higher heat transfer coefficient.

 (5)Using plate heat exchanger bypass pipe: When the flow rate of the hot and cold medium is relatively large, the bypass pipe can be set at the inlet and outlet of phe large flow side to reduce the flow into the plate heat exchanger and reduce the resistance.
