The plate heat exchanger is a detachable heat exchange device composed of many corrugated heat transfer plates, which are compressed by rubber gaskets at certain intervals. The shell-and-tube heat exchanger is a partitioned heat exchanger with the wall surface of the tube bundle enclosed in the shell as the heat transfer surface. So what is the difference between tube heat exchanger and plate heat exchanger?
(1) Structural form. The main shape of the tube type is a tube shape, and the internal heat exchange components are also composed of a certain number of small round tubes. The shape of the plate is mainly rectangular, and the internal heat exchange components are composed of a certain number of stainless steel plates.
(2) Heat transfer efficiency. Both tube type and plate type belong to the partition type heat transfer. The heat exchange principle is generated by separating the cold and hot media and contacting each other in their respective channels. Because the wall thickness of the tube type is generally between 0.8-1.2mm, and the plate thickness of the plate heat exchanger is between 0.4-0.5mm. Under the same parameters, the heat transfer performance of the plate type is 3-5 times that of the tube type.
(3) Interface form. Generally speaking, the four ports of the tube are separated. There are usually one on the left and one on the top and the other. The conventional interfaces of plate heat exchangers are all on the same side. According to the combination of the process, it can also be made into front and back, diagonal or segmented interface forms.
(4) Cost of construction. Since the tubular type is a closed form, it will take a lot of time and manpower to clean or replace once it is blocked or leaked. The plate heat exchanger can be cleaned or increased in area by two people, which greatly improves the work efficiency.
